We're giving away four scholarships for $2,000 to high school seniors. Get your application in before the deadline to qualify.
Any graduating high school member or child of a member interested in seeking higher education and meets the eligibility requirements described in the application packet, may apply for the Beacon Scholarship Program. The winners are chosen by a committee based upon grades, high school and community activities and overall acheivements.
Each Scholarship is named for individuals who have committed their time and efforts to the credit union movement.
Hugh E. Wills Scholarship
- Our 1st scholarship was created over 10 years ago. Hugh E. Wills was the 1st acting Manager of Beacon Credit Union (then Virginia League Central Credit Union).
Thomas M. Rogers Scholarship
- Mr. Rodgers established 2 credit unions in Danville, one of which was the Goodyear Tire credit union, which Beacon merged with in 2013.
Garland H. Huffman
- Garland H. Huffman was instrumental in the development of Lynchburg Foundry Federal Credit Union, which Beacon merged with in 2009.
Thomas Turpin Scholarship
- Mr. Turpin was instrumental in establish Big Island Federal Credit Union, which Beacon merged with in 2009.
