CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is one of the many charity organizations Beacon supports. Here’s a little information on CASA and what they do in your community.

CASA was established in 1977 by David Soukup in Seattle Washington. By recruiting volunteers this organization trains individuals to work with children in your community who have been raised in a negligent or abused environment and help them through the judicial process of finding a permanent home.

CASA has been recognized in the community in several ways. They recently won the # 1 Non-Profit award from Lynchburg Living in November of 2016. In addition they’ve received Small Business of the Year from Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and # 1 Non-Profit from the Bedford Chamber.

Beacon supports CASA through several events annually. In the spring Beacon employees line up to help with annual shoe sale, while in the fall, volunteers sport their capes and shields to participate in the CASA Superhero Run.
