The first three years of school shapes a child's future. The things learned during this time period will determine how far they will excel in school and after they graduate.
Beacon Credit Union has teamed up with the YMCA on the Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program.
The Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program is a summer reading and math enrichment program for 1st - 3rd grade children from low-income families. The goal is to prevent the loss of learning that typically happens during the summer months. Children from low-income households typically lose an average of 2.5 months of reading and math skills over the summer months.
The Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program offers not only math and reading lessons to help prevent the children from falling behind during the next school year, but they will also have the opportunity to learn swimming skills, explore nature and experience positive team building skills. All transportation and meals (breakfast, lunch and snack) are included in the program.
At Beacon we're invested in the future of the children in our community and can't wait to see the great things this program can accomplish.
