Beacon Credit Union not only offers Financial Success for our Members Today... We also invest in Tomorrow, with our Scholarship Programs.
We offer three $2,000 Scholarships to the most qualified applicants each year. The Hugh E. Wills, Thomas R. Turpin Jr., and Garland H. Huffman Scholarships are available to aid our High School Members in furthering their Education.
Mr. Wills spent many years helping build the Credit Union movement, first by working for the Virginia Credit Union League and then as manager, for 17 years, of Beacon Credit Union. Mr. Turpin was a founding member of Big Island 1013 Federal Credit Union and helped build the credit union to over 2,000 members and 15 million dollars in assets. Mr. Huffman was a manager at Lynchburg Foundry Federal Credit Union for over 30 years and played a pivotal role in its development.
Any graduating high school member or child of a member interested in seeking higher education and meets the eligibility requirements may apply for the Beacon Scholarship Program. Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving high school seniors at the Beacon Credit Union
Annual Meeting held in May.
