Beacon Credit Union representatives Greg McConville (President), Joe Goude (Vice President of Retail Services) and Terry Hammond (Vice President of Finance) travelled to Richmond in association with the 2012 Credit Union Day held earlier this year at the General Assembly.
The annual event offers Credit Union officials the opportunity to meet with delegates from the House of Representatives and the Senate in order to discuss the importance of laws and regulations that will affect credit unions.
This year's conference highlighted regulations such as House bill H.B. 214 patroned by Delegate Jackson Miller and the Senate version S.B. 132 patroned by Senator Bill Stanley.
Beacon's representative met numerous officials including Senator Steve Newman, and House Delegate Lacey E. Putney as well as Credit Union Members who attended the event. Emphasizing the difference and benefits that Credit Unions offer to members and citizens within our community, they helped to bring to attention the Credit Union's perspective in legislative decisions. Adorning the traditional red scarves for the event that state the Credit Union motto of "For People, Not Profit," Beacon Credit Union helped to bring our member's values and opinions to the General Assembly.
